Helen Chester BEd (Hons) - Founder, Director and Senior Consultant

Helen has an impressive track record of making a significant impact and improving Children’s Services. She started out her career as a Teacher in the Primary Sector and quickly progressed to Deputy Headship and Headship. She has direct teaching experience from birth to 16 and in addition to her teaching degree she is a qualified Early Years Professional (EYP).

For the past 11 years Helen has been working in Children’s Services and has built up an impressive track record. She has detailed working knowledge of the Children’s Centre agenda and has developed innovative ways to enhance service provision for children and families. She has also worked with Early Years Settings to improve their provision, has developed sound practices for outreach and family support services and has supported teenage housing projects.

In addition to her knowledge and skills in service delivery, Helen has also acted as Business Manager for a multi-million pound service, developing strong financial procedures, developing policies, managing the change process, recruitment and retention of staff, along with other HR functions, including TUPE transfers. She has worked on new build projects, facilities management and has developed sound procurement systems for the needs of the business.

She has worked in the charitable sector at the highest levels as a CEO, developing innovative services, securing funding and developing best practice ways of working. She is experienced in managing mergers and strategic planning to develop long term sustainability of services.

Working alongside Local Authorities, she has developed strategic planning and service redesign and has assisted in the commissioning process. She provides independent quality assurance and mock inspection of commissioned and statutory services and works with local authorities and providers to improve practice and raise standards.

She is a Prince2 qualified project manager with experience of managing and delivering a range of projects including free school implementation, mergers and successful funding bids for both new and merging services.

Helen designs and delivers bespoke training packages for a range of providers including local authorities, charities and children's centres. She uses interactive teaching methods to ensure clients are active participants in their learning experience and is able to effectively adapt her delivery strategies to meet the needs of her client groups.

Fundraising activities have formed a significant part of her work to date. Working on both small and large scale projects, Helen has delivered results and received outstanding feedback on her bid submissions. She is able to develop innovative solutions and work on all aspects of bid writing from project management to designing delivery methods.

Above all else, Helen is passionate about ensuring that children, young people and adults and communities receive outstanding, value for money services.
